Easter Party Recap
On March 28th we had a great Easter Party! It kicked off with an exciting Easter Egg Hunt in which participants scrambled to the other rooms to look for the eggs. In the end 6 eggs were found! Afterwards everybody joined in to play a game of rage cage, there was a lot of laughter and shouting while hard techno was playing in the background. No party is complete without a classic game of beer pong, and ours was no exception. Teams battled it out in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, showcasing their precision and aim as they attempted to sink shots into cups filled with ice-cold brews.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this memorable occasion including ETH MUN! Stay tuned for future events and gatherings as we continue to create unforgettable experiences together.
A big shout out goes to Tara and Eli for setting and cleaning up the party!

Second Topic Block Recap
Over the past three weeks, our delegates have been hard at work debating the second topic block of the semester, "The Implications of the Death Penalty on Human Rights". Having started our topic block with a wonderful speech from our guest speaker Nick Bell, who has spent dedicated time at Amnesty International and Lifespark as an advocate against the death penalty, our delegates set off into this debate with a fresh perspective and a great mindset. With one week less to debate, delegates were quick to suggest new ideas and solutions and get them in writing as soon as possible, with many dedicating themselves to finding a middle ground. Many placed a focus on all kinds of issues regarding the guarantee of fair trial, as well as preventing false convictions. And among those most dedicated to find a solution was our delicate of the Topic Block, Andrea, representing South Africa. Congratulations to Andrea, as well as all our other delegates for a very successful topic block.

ZuMUN 2024 Recap
This year’s ZuMUN conference went by as quickly as it started. On Friday, April 12th, we welcomed delegates from all over the world. At the formal opening ceremony of the conference, they had the opportunity to meet career diplomat ambassador Thomas Gürber and ask him all the tough questions about the United Nations and Switzerland’s role in the United Nations Security Council. The coffee break after the ceremony left everyone well-nourished for their first committee sessions.
We hosted three high school and three university committees that debated various topics, all in the spirit of this year’s theme: Democracy. The Friday social gave delegates a chance to unwind from the sessions, compete in fun games, and sing karaoke. On Saturday, the sun shone even brighter than on Friday, which was the perfect opportunity to hand out roses. It has been a tradition for years at ZuMUN to send roses to other delegates with a note attached. After the debates, the Saturday social offered everything in pink, with the twist of a red carpet and a photo booth, including a live performance by a DJ.
Everything must come to an end, so Sunday was just around the corner. The committees wrapped up at 3 in the afternoon. While we continued most traditions this year, we introduced a new one by giving out awards to delegates. After the closing ceremony concluded, we said our goodbyes and started the cleanup – I’ll spare you the behind-the-scenes cleanup details. Instead, I want to take the time to thank everyone who has been involved with organizing ZuMUN this year. It wouldn’t have been possible to shape this year’s ZuMUN without you. You all have done an amazing job, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we have accomplished. That said, I am already excited to see what next year’s edition of ZuMUN will look like.
