Hi, I’m Ben and I study Mathematics at ETHZ. I joined MUN UZH at the beginning of last semester, in 2024, after hearing about it from a friend. What stood out to me right away was the friendliness and welcoming attitude of everyone there. I especially enjoyed, and still enjoy, going out for a beer with everyone after each session. It’s a great way to spend a Wednesday evening.

Beyond the socials, I enjoy debating on behalf of a country, especially when it comes to contentious issues. Rarely would I get the chance to represent an entire nation in my everyday life. My favourite format is historical crisis, where you role-play a historical figure during pivotal events such as the outbreak of World War I or the Cuban Missile Crisis. It might sound boring, but with university students as delegates, things rarely remain historically accurate.

As Head of Finance, my job is to make sure we don’t go broke and to report our expenses and income at the end of the year. I keep track of transactions, and ensure we stay within budget, while still making space for the fun stuff, such as going to conferences and social events throughout the year.
